IEEE Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) Student Leadership Conference held in Charlotte
IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) is the Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science Honor Society. The IEEE-HKN Student Leadership Conference is HKN’s largest annual gathering offering a unique opportunity for its students to learn from practitioners. On 15-17 November 2024, close to 350 HKN students, advisors, alumni, IEEE leaders, industry recruiters, society experts, and graduate school representatives convened in Charlotte/Concord, North Carolina to connect, share best practices, sharpen technical skills, and collaborate.
This year’s conference was organized by ECE faculty member James Conrad, who was assisted by over 20 student volunteers from the ECE department. The UNC Charlotte Chapter of IEEE-HKN was also recognized with a Key Chapter Award.
This year’s conference included a special afterparty sponsored by IEEE Young Professionals, as well as a lunch with Mary Ellen Randall, IEEE 2025 President-Elect, and Kathleen Kramer, IEEE 2025 President. This conference was sponsored by 15 companies, 20 IEEE technical Societies, and six graduate schools.
