ECE faculty Dr. Farah Deeba leads new ARPA-H Grant to Develop a Next-Generation Ultrasound Technology to Monitor Baby Health before Birth
Dr. Farah Deeba, an Assistant Professor at the ECE department is leading a multi-million dollar (upto $8.4 million) Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) “Making Obstetrics Care Smart” program funded project to improve placental health assessment and protect babies from oxygen deprivation. UNC Charlotte is anchoring this initiative alongside The University of British Columbia, Sonus Microsystems, Atrium Health and Oregon Health & Science University. “Quantitative placental insights and standardized oxygen metrics go beyond conventional ultrasound and protect at-risk babies sooner”, said Dr. Deeba. Wearable tech can also bring advanced monitoring to diverse clinical settings.
