Programs
As an undergraduate student, you can choose between bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering. Electrical engineering students may add a concentration in power and energy systems, and students in both programs can add a concentration in machine learning.
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in another department? You can add a minor in either computer or electrical engineering. Additionally, Engineering Technology and Construction Management offers a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, which may interest students who want a more applications-based curriculum. And in the College of Computing and Informatics, students can earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science, focusing on data science, robotics and gaming, bioinformatics, and other ways computers can be used in modern life.
On the graduate level, we offer nationally ranked master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering, as well as a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. Graduate students typically focus on one of four research areas:
- Communication, control and signal processing
- Computer systems
- Devices, circuits and systems
- Power systems
Facilities
In the 200,000-square-foot EPIC building (Energy Production and Infrastructure Center), which houses more than a dozen research labs, you will have hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology such as wireless systems, solar cells, smart grids and cyberphysical systems. EPIC represents a milestone in sustainable campus design, as it is the first building on the main campus to achieve LEED Gold certification.

Our bachelor’s degree recipients report an average starting salary of $73,000, and 78% have found full-time employment within six months of graduation.
