Research in Quantitative Imaging and Artificial Intelligence

Categories: Spotlights

The nascent field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have experienced unprecedented growth in recent times, especially in healthcare and biomedical applications. For example, artificial neural networks have revolutionized the analysis of nonlinear functions with millions of inputs, however, most of the work is still superficial in medical AI, primarily focusing on downstream tasks like binary classification and object detection. Research in the Quantitative Imaging and AI (QIAI) lab focuses on quantitative biomedical imaging, the application of AI in medicine, and computer-aided diagnosis and prognosis. This field seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine, combining the design and problem-solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to advance healthcare treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy using advanced imaging and AI techniques. The lab collaborates with several industry and research organizations and has multiple projects sponsored by various organizations. For more details, please click here.
