Mentoring

At any time during the academic year a student may seek career information and guidance from a faculty member in their area of interest. Students seeking career advice are encouraged to contact the faculty mentor in their area of interest to create an appointment. Faculty mentoring appointments allow students to answer the following questions as they apply to the student’s expressed area of interest:

  • What elective, special topics and continuation courses are relevant to their area and what specific skills do they provide?
  • What career prospects and opportunities exist in this area?
  • What research problems exist in this area and examples of ongoing related research conducted within the department or university?
  • What opportunities exist for graduate school and what actions might be taken now to plan for success in graduate school?
